I have had several people tell me they’ve had problems with the sound on the video, or they wanted to be able to share it with someone not on facebook.  So, here it is!

Welcome to Engage!

If you’re reading this, it’s probably because you got an invitation to check out this blog.  This is going to be the place where I put information about this ministry that God is leading us to begin.  This is going to be the place where I will be posting information about the millenial generation and what’s happening with them.  You’ll also get to keep up with the ministry as we blog about where we go and post video about what we’re doing.

In this opening blog, I want to tell you a little about how we got to where we are.  You can read some of this on the bottom of the page.  It’s called The Call to Engage.  It has information about the ministry and how you can be involved.  But to go a little further than that information, I went home on R&R from Afghanistan in July.  One of the first things I did was sit down with the kids and discuss what our option were when I returned home (I had already discussed it with Marilyn previously).  I didn’t want to influence them in one way or another, and I wanted to give the the opportunity to pray and have a voice in the decision.  We listed out six possibilities, talked about the pros and cons, and taped them to the mantle.  Every few days, we would get together and I would ask them what they thought God was saying.  Over the course of 15 days, we narrowed it down to two options, but they were most excited about Engage.  If you ask them, they are excited about the opportunity to impact churches and families and reach children.

I am excited as well.  On Aug. 29, I preached the “Engage” sermon to four of the services here at Camp Phoenix.  The response was overwhelming.  I wasn’t asking for support in the sermon, but many people came to me after and told me they wanted to support the ministry financially and they wanted us to come and speak at their church when I get home.  I am excited about the opportunity.  At the end of the message, I asked for responses with the questions, “Did God speak to you?”, Is there anything that stood out to you?”, and “What do you think you’ll do now?”  Everyone responded “Yes” to the first question.  Here are some of the comments that were made to the other two questions:

What stood out? “The lost souls of this generation.”  What will you do?  ”Get this message to my church.” – Command Sergeant Major

What stood out? “The fact that we need to do something.”  What will you do?  ”I want to engage in my life and try to make a difference.” – Major

What stood out? “One of the main things that stood out was about not teaching kids to be good (focusing on the external), but their personal relationship (internal).”  What will you do?  ”Find ways to be engaged and let God work through me to make a difference.” – First Lieutenant

What stood out? “The statistics on the millenials.”  What will you do?  ”Send stats to church and be more serious about discipling my kids.” – young Soldier

What stood out? “The numbers of lost youth today.”  What will you do?  ”Get this message to my church.”

What stood out? “The statistics of where we are and where we’re headed.”  What will you do?  ”Capture hearts and minds of youth, starting with my family.” – Master Sergeant

What stood out? “up to 90% of people accept Christ before age 20, 80-90% leave their faith when they leave home.”  What will you do?  ”Take action to protect and educate, starting with my family  Facilitate a program at home targeting children and teens.” – a young  Sergeant

What stood out? “What we do now will have repercussions on the future.”  What will you do?  ”I MUST .”do better in leading my family.  I MUST do better in my daily work.” – Chief Warrant Officer

What stood out? “The steady decline of Christians in each generation.”  What will you do?  ”Raise my children to seek and worship God, as well as other kids within my reach.” – Sergeant First Class

What stood out? “The stats really hit home…I could relate to the message closely.  I understand there are changes to be made when I get home by ensuring my 4 year old is on the right track.”  What will you do?  ”Make sure my daughter doesn’t become a negative stat…share with my church back home.” – a young Specialist

What stood out? “I didn’t know!!!”  What will you do?  ”Share it with my church, family, friends and find a way to make/be the change.” – a young Sergeant

What stood out? “Even though I’m looked at as the older generation, I need to recommit to the youth and children of my church.”  What will you do?  ”Work more with youth, children, and grandchildren.” – Sergeant First Class

I could list a whole, lot more, but these are representative of the response I got.  Several people came to my office because they wanted to do something right now.  That is tremendous and shows how important this message is.  I’m posting a few videos of people responding to the message as well.  Please take a look and pray with us and for us!
